The Georgian-born pianist Lika Bibileishvili is among the most outstanding musicians of her generation.
Born in Batumi, she began playing the piano at the age of four. Her musical development was shaped by her extraordinary talent and deeply influenced by the rich traditions of Georgian folklore and its polyphonic music. Alongside her piano studies, she trained at the Georgian National Ballet from early childhood and later performed as a soloist. This profound immersion in music, dance, and Georgian culture has uniquely shaped her musical sensibility, tonal imagination, and rhythmic expression.
At the age of ten, she began her formal piano studies with Nana Shaladze at the Central Music School of the Conservatory in Batumi. At just twelve years old, she made her orchestral debut performing Sergei Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto, marking the beginning of her remarkable artistic path.
At nineteen, Lika Bibileishvili moved to Munich, where she studied with Volker Banfield, Antti Siirala, and Franz Massinger. In 2016, she continued her education at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under Peter Lang. The most profound influence on her artistic development came from her long-term studies with the legendary Dmitri Bashkirov, whose pianistic school left a deep and lasting imprint on her musical identity, emphasizing noble sound, stylistic clarity, and uncompromising artistic integrity.
In 2018, she released her debut solo album with the label Farao Classics, featuring works by Prokofiev, Ravel, Sibelius, and Bartók. The recording received immediate international acclaim and was nominated in five categories for the Opus Klassik. The Süddeutsche Zeitung described her as an “extraordinary artistic personality,” stating: “It is time for the music world to discover this exceptional musician.”
Her concert career has taken her to leading venues and festivals across Europe and Asia, including the Munich Philharmonie, Herkulessaal, Suntory Hall Tokyo, Klavierfestival Ruhr, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Hohenloher Kultursommer, and the Carl Orff Festival Andechs. A particular highlight was her performance of Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine at the Altmark Festival.
Her repertoire focuses on the great masterpieces of Romanticism, Late Romanticism, and Impressionism, as well as key works of the twentieth century. Fluent in German, English, French, Russian, and Georgian, she brings an international perspective to her artistic work. Since 2024, she has been a faculty member at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich.
